From print journalism, to digital distribution, I’ve always been fascinated by storytelling and the mechanisms behind reaching an audience.
I spent three years working for The Current, Eckerd College’s official student newspaper. During those years, I was writer, photographer, Assistant Quickie Editor, Assistant Entertainment Editor, Assistant News Editor, News Editor, and then Director of Communications. In that time, The Current received awards from The Society of Professional Journalists, American Collegiate Press, and the Florida Collegiate Press for its print and digital publications, in categories for web design, articles, photography, page design, and more.
Since graduation in 2013, I’ve worked for the duPont REGISTRY, a 30 year old publication with distribution in 32 countries and all 50 states, as an Associate Editor; Upworthy, named the “Fastest Growing Media Site of All Time” by Fast Company, as a Social Media Editor; and NationSwell, named by The Atlantic as “A Cure for Post-Election Malaise.”
At the duPont REGISTRY, I assisted in the establishment and development of the brand’s digital presence and automotive news source, Autofluence, growing their Facebook profile from 1.5 million to 5 million in that time, while unique visitors to Autofluence reached upwards of 500,000.
At Upworthy, I worked closely with the Editorial, Video, and Collaborations teams to coordinate distribution of content across multiple platforms, ensuring we help share the pieces that show that we are all part of the same story. In this time, our Facebook page grew from 8 to 11 million fans, and we surpassed a monthly average of 200 million video views.
As the Director of Audience and Social at NationSwell, I’ll be working with the Editorial and Studio teams, as well as the team behind the Council operations, to elevate our distribution channels and create a turbo-charged impact engine that helps propel solutions forward.
